This veritable forest of plants where David Attenborough might pop up at any moment amid the foliage is actually a creative and cultural workspace opened on the first floor of the Mercado da Ribeira. Designed by Spanish architecture practice Selgas Cano, Second Home seeks to bring together a diverse and ambitious creative community. Ensuring that it flourishes is the central aim of this creative accelerator for a range of industries that was founded in London with a whole new work philosophy. Second Home is composed of an open-plan area filled with plants and vintage lamps with space for more than 200 members, a lounge with a café that prides itself on serving the city’s best flat whites, a library, meeting rooms, a well-being area for yoga, pilates or meditation lessons, and a cultural space to host film screenings, small concerts and conferences. All for members only.
