Bacalhau Jantares de natal na Academia Time Out

Cooking, dining and toasting Christmas in the Academy

From what date is it acceptable to start talking about Christmas parties? As soon as you have put your bathing suit away in a drawer, or when the shop windows in shopping centres are decked out with festive lights? In fact, it is a bit like Christmas itself, that is, you can do it whenever you want to. But better to do it earlier than later, given that there is a lot of demand.

The team at the Time Out Academy, the Market’s cookery school, is already ready for the festive season. Let it come! In this space in the middle of the food hall the love of good food is celebrated, but also toasts “to anythind and everything”, hearty laughter, healthy culinary competition and meals that you will never forget.

At any party, the kitchen is the place where everyone ends up. That’s why the Time Out Academy has brought together the best of two worlds: a kitchen where you eat, but where nothing is obvious, and where meals can take any and all culinary formats. Team building exercises, workshops, competitions, lunches and dinners – the choice is wide. As wide as the themes that you can choose for your event: from World Cuisines to the most traditional of Portuguese dishes.

Given that it is Christmas, the team at the Time Out Academy has created four suitably festive menus to be put into practice in the workshop format, with a chef teaching participants to cook one starter and one main dish. Dessert is on the house. But these menus aren’t all about bacalhau – the traditional Christmas dish in most of Portugal. Just to get your mouth watering, as well as the traditional confit of bacalhau and a brandade (a mixture of bacalhau and olive oil), you can learn to prepare other dishes such as beef with a herb crust, potatoes sauteed in foie gras and rosemary, a magret of duck, and even a ceviche. The menu is important, of course, but what counts is the fun you will have. And here at the Time Out Academy we celebrate our love of food, many toasts, hearty laughter and cooking tricks that work and that give us confidence to shine next time we make dinner at home. And as well as the dessert the Academy serves at the end of the meal, there is yet another present: you won’t have to wash the dishes.

Menu prices range from €35 to €50 per person and include workshop, dinner & drinks. For more informatino contact the Time Out Academy on (+351) 91 338 3935 or e-mail [email protected]
