Every Brilliant Thing
Every Brilliant Thing is a show in which actor Ivo Canelas invites the audience to take part, as it addresses in an enthralling way subjects such as depression, existential crises, family and love. In this hymn to life, a child writes a list of reasons to live, with the aim of trying to help his mother recover from depression. The monologue, written by Duncan Macmillan and staged in various countries, reminds us of the importance of recognising, and being amazed by, all the things that surround us.
“You’re 7 years old… Mum’s in hospital… You start to make a list of everything that’s brilliant about the world… You leave it on her pillow… You know she’s read it because she’s corrected your spelling.
