The first Time Out Bar
has opened in Lisbon

After the magazine that tells you everything you should know and do about Lisbon, there is no better place to be graced with the name ‘Time Out’ than a bar, because that is exactly the concept of this new space that opened at the Market: offering a “time out” for anyone who drops in. There are bars aplenty, but none quite like this one. The Time Out Market has a new tenant that is a bit like its younger cousin: the Time Out Bar – TO Bar to its friends – is the first cocktail bar from the Time Out group. Lke any bar worthy of the name it serves exclusive cocktails – at the moment there are eight, but every season is set to see new ones added to the list – but also classic drinks such as Mojitos and Caipirinhas.
So, aside from cocktails, what can you drink at this bar? A selection of great Portuguese wines from all the country’s main regions, by the glass or the bottle. The house wine is a well-priced Papa Figos, but there are other fine recommendations for you to discover, such as a Casal de Santa Maria Chardonnay, or Cartuxa, or perhaps Tributo. Port wine and Portuguese liqueurs also feature on the TO Bar drinks list.
And like any bar worthy of the name, if a cocktail or drink you fancy is not on the list, just ask the barman, and he can almost certainly make it.
Normally when visiting a bar, as well as wanting a drink and a chat, people like to enjoy the ambience around them. It was that in mind that the team of architects for this space designed a transparent structure that makes it possible to see what is going on in the rest of the market, and which uses the same materials – black iron and original pinewood.
Drinks go down well with music, so the Time Out Bar also has a space set aside for a DJ to work. There is a monthly calendar of DJs performing here. And speaking of calendars, the bar also features several screens with information about events going on not only at the Time Out Market, but also around the city – all carefully selected by the magazine. This is, after all, a Time Out Bar.
